Marta's Monterosa Blog

I am passionate about the Alps. They are my heart's home and the place where I would like to spend the last day of my life. I have been a tourist in the village of Champoluc in the Italian Monterosa for all my life and worked as a tourist operator in this area since more than 15 years.

I believe in respect for the special environment of this place that you can find only here. We all gain by enjoying its beauty, while trying to make a minimum impact at the same time. Leave it for our children in the future!

I believe in respect for people who live here with their traditions and culture, language, and work, their genuine products and delicious wines. They open their homes for us, tourists and meet us as their guests, if we are able to open our hearts for them. I have a friend who is a hotel owner and he says that when stressed people from the city come to his place, he tells them to sit down and take a drink before they even begin to worry if they have a room. Perhaps, we can bring a little of their kindness and calmness with us on our way back to the city.

My philosophy is to give back a little of what the mountains and the people from this place have given to me and to my family through my work, to communicate my philosophy and my passion to those who follow me on the blog, and in my trips as a tour operator.

If you would like to visit Champoluc, Gressoney, Alagna or other villages in the Aosta Valley, trek or ski in the Monterosa, discover Sardinia or other places we offer, contact us.

This winter has been special in many ways:

First we have been blessed with nearly too much – is this really possible? – snow in Champoluc, Monterosa, where we have our Italian Alps’ HQ.

Meter after meter snow filled up all streets, roofs and nevertheless slopes of the mountains here around, giving us and all our travel guests an incredible ski season.

Thank you Mother Nature!

The second special thing this winter has been the teamwork of all our staff:

Pontus sat at the head quarter in Nacka, Sweden, and worked out all technical solutions we needed, Pedro drove the strategies around SEO in the meantime as Barto and Agnes put together huge piles of fresh content for www.monterosa.com and our social media, at the same time as they took care of our precious guests in Champoluc. This was possible only through the valuable project managing of Nastassja, rushing from her job at Stockholm University to the head quarter in Nacka to run our Tuesday meetings.

Even Pascal was involved in the team, with important news updating from the Aosta Valley.

Thank you incredible staff at TheAlps!

This made it possible for us to revolutionize the content of www.monterosa.com from a pretty spontaneous flow into what makes a real web site. I believe we can now say that it is clear what we do and what we offer at our home page, giving us now a better chance to fill up with summer content and other hopefully interesting issues for our visitors and for our travel guests from now on.

Third think that made it special this season is the never ending patience, service willingness and grace of the various hotels, taxi drivers, restaurants and ski rental we relay upon to make a vacation possible for all! No matter how busy you are, there is always a smile and a hand when needed. You are the best, and without you, no travels!

What, without all of you dear guests, who went to Monterosa and to the Alps with us this winter? I want to personally thank all of you! I promise myself to send you the pictures I have taken on the way through this season.

And we wish to see you again this summer on the trails of the beautiful mountains surrounding us.

Remember that we also go to the sea! The Medirranean is only 2 hours from here, so why not following us to the beach or even to the magic land of Sardinia? You can find some ideas on www.monterosa.com under “other destinations”.

We are also active on Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo and Instagram so you can follow us there to see in real time what we are up to:

Happy guests - Champoluc
