Champoluc ski resort

Rob Hodgetts prepared for CNN a list of ski resorts that are hidden pearls among Europe’s ski resorts. Champoluc is in second place!

It is the list of 10 ski resorts that are maybe not so well known but for sure they can be recognised as secret treasures hidden in the mountains, waiting for skiers and tourists.

Champoluc was placed in second place among other ski resorts as for example: Serfaus in Austria, Riksgransen in Sweden, Val d'Anniviers in Switzerland or Pralognan-la-Vanoise in France.

”Unsung Italian charm, access to Alagna's revered backcountry, Matterhorn views, cheap”, wrote Hodgetts.

He pointed that located close to Alagna and Gressoney, Champoluc was often overlooked. And the cosy Italian town, just one hour from Turin, has over 180km runs of Monterosa Ski. ”Champoluc's a quiet sort of place, ideal for making your own fun in the smattering of honest local joints”, and… it is cheap. If you are intermediate skier it is perfect for you. For more advanced skiers it is linked to Alagna and Gressoney and extensive off-piste runs at 3275m.

Hodgetts wrote also about some hidden pearls in Champoluc like Bruno’s Bar, in the forest, just above town, as well as “cutesy Antagnod” down the valley.
