Folklore and winter sports in a natural environment

Zakopane is the only Polish town in the Tatra Mountains, which are the highest mountains between the Alps and the Ural Mountains. During the winter, Tatra usually is covered in snow and the temperatures are mild. This is why many tourists have come here to ski or hike in the mountains. Many down hill competitions have been held here as well.
