Sexten is a village with about 2000 inhabitants in the heart of the Dolomite Mountains. The resort offers various possibilities of skiing, cross- country skiing and hiking. The winter season usually starts at Christmas , even though most lifts open as early as the 10th of December, and generally runs to Easter.

Sexten is a part of the Hochpustertal Ski Area which comprises, besides Sexten, five other resorts. This area will guarantee you about 50 kilometers of brilliant skiing suitable for the beginner as well as the expert. Sexten has two different ski areas: Helm and Rotwand, where Helm is the bigger of the two.
There is a child acre center as well as a children's playground in nearly every hotel. A kid under 7 years old get free lift- passes and there is a special ski school for them as well.
These are among the activities for you to attend in Sexten: There is a health center, tennis courts, a public pool, a sauna, horse sledding, skating, climbing wall, a number of exiting excursions, sleigh rides, etc.
The dog-sledding race Alpitrail wich comes to Sexten every year. The dog-sledges arrive in Sexten in the afternoon to stay for the night and to leave on the following morning.
New Years eve: In the afternoon, when it's already dark, a group of 60-80 skiers, people living in Sexten, decend on a downhill run carrying a torch in their hand. When the tourch-bearers have arrived down in the valley, nice fireworks follow.
Every two weeks the tourist offfice organizees slight shows about Sexten in the Kongresshaus, where other activities also take place.
The village of Sexten includes 26 restaurants and bars and two nightclubs for you to enjoy. Along with that you will find three great mountain restaurants and a number of shops for the tourists.
Sexten is a part of the great Hochpustertal ski area that includes a number of great smaller resorts. For the same ski pass you will be able to ski about 50 kilometers of fantastic and varying slopes. The resort includes runs for both beginners and experts, and the intermediates are not forgotten either.
Sexten as an own resort is divided into two ski areas: Helm and Rotwand, where Helm is the bigger one and you'll find a total of 16 lifts.
Skischool
There are two ski schools in Sexten offering skiing courses, cross-country and snow board lessons. You are able to choose between private or group lessons.
In general Sexten has a bed capacity of about 3500 divided into hotels, bed and breakfasts and apartments. First of all there are six two-star hotels, 19 three- stars and two four stars for those who want a very comfortable holiday. You'll also have all the smaller guesthouses and convenient apartments as a cheaper alternative.
By car:
Take the motorway to Brenner and Brixen where you get off and drive towards Pustertal. Follow the road to Innichen where you will find signs for Sexten.
