Fort William is a village in the Nevis Range ski resort that has been a popular center for generations of visitors. Fort William is located in the high mountains of Lochaber in western Highlands. Fort William is a village in the Nevis Range ski resort that has been a popular center for generations of visitors. Fort William is located in the high mountains of Lochaber in western Highlands. Not too far from the village you will find the ski resort of Nevis Range, the last established ski area in Scotland. Snowboarding has become very big sport in Nevis Range since the slopes are perfectly suited for that. Nevis Range has the longest continuos ski run in Scotland at 4000 ft /1220m. The resort has great records for late-season skiing and there is a convenient bus service from Fort William to the lifts.
Nevis Range is also an ideal resort for non-skiers since there are walking paths and viewpoints you can reach by the gondola. In the resort you will also have a broad selection of different kinds of accommodation.
For children between 3-7 years there is the Creche day-care facility in Fort Williams where they have a kids fun play area and swimming pools, everything indoors. There are special prices for private lessons in the ski school during lunchtime for skiers under 7 and for snowboarders under 10.

There is plenty of shopping to do and a museum to visit in Fort Williams. There are also many other facilities, including a bowling alley, a swimming pool and a sport center, where you can keep your body trimmed too.
Outdoor
Nevis Range is an ideal resort for non-skiers sice you can use the walking paths and viewpoints not too far from the gondola. In Fort Williams you can rent mountain bikes and the Leanachan forest by Nevis Range is ideal biking or walking country

The Snowgoose Restaurant and Bar is located with a fantastic view over the mountains and also serves pretty good food.
Cafés
There is a café by the lifts and there are also two "on-the-piste" snack bars.
Nevis Range has the highest located ski run in Scotland in which you can ski from 4000ft /1220m. The area has 12 lifts, (1 gondola, with a unique system and an uplift capacity of- 1750/hour), and 35 downhill runs where the longest measures 2 kilometers.. The maximum vertical descent is 1900ft, and the up lift capacity is 9600 skiers per hour. The resort also has a snowboard fun park
There are special prices for the ski school during lunchtime for children under 7 and for snowboarders under 10 years at lunchtime. The resorts wide open slopes are perfectly suited to snowboarding and telemarking .
Fort Williams with its surrounding villages have a wide range of accommodation only a few minutes away from the ski area. There are many pubs and eating places as well in the village that you should try to visit to experience some local spirit.
