Madesimo is situated on the border between Italy and Switzerland, at an altitude of m.1550 above sea level. It is an ideal place for a pleasant holiday: a snow paradise in the winter and an oasis of peace in the summer. The Skiarea Valchiavenna-Madesimo (including the slopes of Madesimo, Motta and Val di Lei) offers about 50 km of ski slopes, from the village (m.1550) up to Pizzo Groppera (m.2880). The lifts are easily reached from every part of the village with no need for ski buses.

BY CAR: From Milan: Madesimo is 140 km north of Milan, directions Milan-Lecco-Colico-Chiavenna-Madesimo. From Switzerland: through Splugenpass (open from may to november) or through Malojapass (open all year long) or from Lugano (CH)-Lake of Como. BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTS: The next railway station is in Chiavenna (20 km south of Madesimo). From Chiavenna to Madesimo by bus (daily). From Milan: in winter season, only on saturday, sunday and holidays, there is a direct bus from Milan to Madesimo and back. Otherwise by train from Milan to Chiavenna, then by bus from Chiavenna to Madesimo. From Switzerland: by bus from Spluegen (CH) to Madesimo through Spluegenpass (open from may to november) or by bus from St.Moritz (CH) to Chiavenna through Malojapass (open all year long), and then by bus from Chiavenna to Madesimo.
