Peaks rise in every direction and are serviced by an enormous network of chairlifts and telecabines, ensuring you that you are on the slopes quickly with minimal queuing. The views from the Grande Motte glacier can be enjoyed by every level of skier; the choice of duns down include a long, gentle descent into Val Claret, challenging mogul fields or the outrages route over the "Wall". Despite the enormity of the area the well-integrated high capacity lift system and excellent bus services in Tignes ensure ease of movement around and between the two resorts. Tignes has two main centers; Val Claret and Tignes-Le-Lac. Val Claret is the highest and offers the best access to skiing, being very close to the foot of the glacier. It has a number of shops, a supermarket and many restaurants. Lively Tignes-Le-Lac, with runs leading directly back into the resort. There is a twice weekly market here, shops, bars and restaurants and a very modern sport center.
Ski school- the ski schools have a wide variety of courses for children from the age of 4 to 12 years. Childcare- The Petits Lutins in Le Lac and Val- Claret take children from 3 month to 6 years. In Le Lac- The Marmottons kindergarten takes children from 2 to 10 years old.
Famed for some of the most challenging skiing in France and an excellent snow record, Tignes is set high above the tree line in alarge natural amphitheatre. Beginners will find wide nursery slopes around the resort. Intermediates will be able to enjoy miles of marked slopes whilst expert skiers can enjoy the mogul fields and black runs. At Val Claret the underground funicular takes you up to Grande Motte where glacier skiing is possible.
Ski schoolTignes has two very good rival ski schools. The Ecole du Ski Francais (ESF) and Evolution 2. They are innovative and respond to guests needs. Group classes are smaller than those found in most resorts, private lessons are also available. Both offer a variety of off piste tours and guiding for all standards. Both ski schools have international sections with instructors speaking good English. The ESF offers lessons exclusively in English.
Tignes offers a range of good value selfcatering apartments, cahlets and very nice hotels, although small in size.
