Freestyle World Cup

The largest part of the largest ski area in the world
Châtel has got about forty slopes and thirty lifts to take you to them. They are unfortunately most suited for the intermediate skier, but your children will have a great time too. Expert skiers might find the range of slopes a little bit short, but Châtel is just piece of the gigantic Portes du Soleil area. Portes du Soleil includes over 200 lifts and 650 kilometers of slopes (25 black slopes, 116 red and 138 green). You can even ski over the border to Switzerland!

The snow in Châtel might be a little wet due to the most slopes are facing the south but Châtel bought twelve new snowmaking machines (winter 1996 / 1997) so the standards have been raised a lot. Anyway Châtel still is a great place to ski much thanks to the fantastic off-piste possibilities.

Of course there are quite a few ski schools where you and your children can learn and practice your skiing skills. One specialty is the free style lessons for teenagers and adults where you really can discover the Portes du Soleil area (the lessons include a helicopter trip).
