Avoriaz really is a creator of atmospheres : all residences and chalets are covered with a wooden layer of red cedar shingle tiles that become gently enveloped by the snow, roofs that follow the angle of the slopes, in a perfect harmony of mountain and modern design, because right angles do not exist in nature, sloping sides to make the sky seem closer and collect freshly fallen snow… Avoriaz took a gamble of consistency, having all the residences made by a single architect, and the result is a great success. Unlike many resorts, there has been no superposing of different architectural styles.
