Schladming is one of the leading international ski resorts in Austria, the village is the highest in the Eastern Alps at an altitude of 749m. It was in this area that Franz Klammer made his legendary downhill speed world record in 1973 (in the Planai back).

Schladming and the surrounding area offers excellent winter facilities like ice-skating, horse riding, and cross-country skiing, down hill skiing and more. The ski season lasts from December to April.
For children there is a game room in the hotels and outside for summer use. The ski area has nursery areas, ski schools with private and group lessons, with very good instructors.
If you don't wish to ski there are lots of things to chose from, like hiking, biking, climbing, horse riding, bathing in the swim/fitness-center, tennis and squash and ice-skating or go to the snowboard center in the area.

There is a vide choice of bars and restaurants in Schladming many of them serve fast food near by the slopes on the days. And at the evening you can enjoy excellent and unique dishes.
Great mountain area

Schladming ski area has 78 lifts and 72 runs, (152km) the longest are 8 km. The highest lift station is situated 2700m over sea level. Cross-country skiers have a large choice of trails, approx. 350km of trails over the mountain area.
The accommodation choice is quite large, chose between excellent hotels or first-class guesthouses, almost all of the hotels have indoor pool, sauna and fully equipped kitchens and satellite TV.
By Air The nearest airports are Salzburg (80km) and Munich (205km)
By Road From Salzburg (90km, nearest airport), take the motorway south in the direction of Graz. Leave at Radstadt junction, following the signs to Schladming.
