The winter and summer sport paradise of Ischgl lies 1370 m above sea level in the western corner of Tyrol, called Paznaun, where snow is always a sure thing. Ischgl and its 1280 inhabitants have succeeded in preserving its friendly character. Since the main part of the ski area is situated between 2000 and 2872 m above sea level, lack of snow will never be a problem. This contributes also to a possibility of skiing from the beginning to December to the beginning of May. Plenty of newly fallen snow guarantees a lot of skiing fun in April, thus providing a lot for spring skiers who wants a lot of glorious sun. All skiers will certainly appreciate the three powerful cable which take them from the centre of Ischgl right to the middle of the ski area.
In general, children over 4 years of age may take part in children´s ski courses. The adventure garden for little skiers is situated next to the meeting point and offers gentle moguls. You may gladly leave your little ones in the youth centre over lunch time to enjoy an excellent special lunch for children complete with juice. Kindergarten: Children between the ages of 3 and 5 can have their first tries in the snow. Trained instructors teach them skiing by playing.
Ischgl has a far more extensive network of lifts offering a wide selection of slopes for beginners to expert and nigh-on limitless off piste. The Ischgl lift pass also encompasses the village of Samnaun in duty-free Switzerland.
For beginners in Iscghl, the gradual slopes on the Idalpe bowl offer plenty of scope for a rapid advancement. For intermediates- The Alp Trida and Palinkopf areas in Ischgl offer an excellent selection of blue and red runs on which to practice and perfect your technique. An absolute must is the 12 km run from the top of the Palinkopf down to the duty free Samnaun, returning to Alp Trida with one of the two cable cars. For advanced- There are a number of challenging black and red runs, in the area. Particularly exciting are those on the north side of the Pardatschgrat and the Höllenspitze. As well as huge areas of off piste there are also 900 vertical metres of moguls from the Palinkopf. Skiers are also permitted to play on the bumps and jumps in the snowboard park.
Ski School Ischgl offers a large amount of different ski schools. Why not try ; Classic skiing such as alpine or cross country or touring skiing as well as alternative fun skiing such as; snowboarding, bigfoot, telemark or arena guiding. All the ski instructors are very professional and skilled in what they do. May of them has been professional skiers. Usual hours of Instruction: 10.30-12.30, 13.30-15.30, 4 hours per day.
Unfortunately almost all accommodation is expensive. There is however, a large choice of cheaper pensions and chalets. Ischgl also has a good selection of hotel and bed and breakfast accommodation, ranging from cheap to more expensive. If you looking for a selfcatering accommodation, Ischgl can offer several attractive apartments.
