Cervinia skilifts

Cervinia

Cervinia is truly a resort where you can spend all day without repeating any slope twice. It is called a skier’s paradise and a queen of snow not without reason. In the one of the highest ski resorts in Europe snow is guaranteed all year round on the glacier, and beautiful landscapes in the foot of the Matterhorn are included.

A series of structures and natural features make this ski area one of the most extensive „domaine skiable” in the world, unique for its variety. Cervinia is located in the Aosta Valley in northwest Italy. High, glaciated mountains surround the valley. The resort lies at 2006m and it shares a ski area with Zermatt in Switzerland. The longest slope stretches for even 22km.

The name “Breuil-Cervinia” (“land of much water”) comes from the numerous lakes and rivers that form the area. The beauty of this place has attracted people for many years. At the beginning it was just the Breuil village with the little church, a bar, a couple of hotels and houses in the 1930s. The company Cervinio was founded in 1936 followed by the first cable car, the cutting-edge work of engineering at that time.

Nowadays, Cervinia has become a haven for ski holidays and fun. Over 350km of slopes offers different levels of difficulty, both for the beginners and the more advanced skiers. Location at the head of the Valtournenche valley guarantees a spectacular view over the magnificent Matterhorn. The village is modern and the centre almost only for pedestrians makes it cozy and relaxing. However, the small village, while occupied by skiers from all over the world, can change into a lively, cosmopolitan spot. It is one of these places where from the slope you ski almost just to the doorstep of the restaurant in the center.
